guido argentinis
Guido Argentini is an Italian photographer, famous for his photographic portraits of women. He was born in Florence, Italy, and studied medicine for three years before turning professionally to photography—a background that comes through in the exquisite anatomy of his nude portraits. In his Silver Series he uses silver paint on dancers to emphasize the form of the body. About the series, Argentini says, "I was heavily influenced by the art ofConstantin Brancusi, whose primeval sculptures of polished bronze made me aware of the fascination of the absolute." He is more interested in the body as object, less about adopting cultural ideas about how bodies should look. He says, "The women I portray represent the abstraction of beauty to a far greater extent than reflecting traditional aesthetic values that the world of fashion takes so much to heart." Argentini now lives in Los Angeles.
